This weekend I took a trip out to L.A and it was the greatest time of my life, that’s right it was for the launch of the new Nike SB BMX pack. This was really special to me because it hit home BMX is my life and has always been a big part of who I am as a person. Well the people over at Nike got together with Mark Lewmen, Andy Jenkins, and Spike Jonez these 3 guys use to work for a magazine back in the day called FREESTYLN. This was the coolest thing to hit the planet me and my friends would travel far and wide just to get the next issue every month, by the way I still have all my issues from back in the 80’s thank you very much…

Beside the fact that Nike SB got the guys from FREESTYLN to make a tribute issue they contacted all of the old school Pro BMXer’s had threw an amazing party in there honor and I was glad to be invited to such an event. To me it was the greatest thing ever I mean I got to hang out with guys I looked up to as a kid and drink beer and talk about the old days of BMX and an to be able to tell your hero how cool it was to read about them in the many issues of FREESTYLN it was mind blowing.

Another dope thing Nike SB did was they got Bob Haro to design the US OLYMPIC team’s uniforms, oh yeah BMX is in the Olympics the year HOLLA…. Now let me give you a little bit of history of who Bob Haro is. This guy is pretty much the reason there’s X-GAMES now back in the early 80’s Bob use to be a BMX racer and he use to do tricks in between races. It was so cool that he and his crew of friends started to do them as a trick team at the races like a shows and before you knew it they started an entire counter culture of people to do the same and BMX trick teams popped up all over the west coast. Another amazing thing Bob has under his belt was he use to make Number plates for all of the racers, his number plates were the staple of who you was as a rider and I know that when I was a kid I had a Haro number plate and almost kids I knew were in the same boat. So another part of this BMX tribute event was Nike SB got all different Artists to design and Bob Haro number plate. This event was so dope that your head would spin from all what was going on. well peep out the photos

wow is all i can say to this event that was held at Central Park yesterday night. first off Redbull did a fantastic job with this event the only thing i felt that was needed was porta-potties but that’s just me and a few others that were bummed there wasn’t any bathrooms and they were giving away water, redbull, and the new redbull soda where did they think that liquid was gonna go after people drank it. oh yeah and they could have given away a few beers come on now. but that’s just me bitching.

when i first got there i was shocked to see how big the ramp was and i knew what was expected with a ramp that big. another dope thing about the event is that i got to see people i use to ride with when i was a kid it brought me back a whole number of years that’s fo’sure.

some how i got into the event VIP maybe cuz i’ve been riding BMX since the early 80’s say like 1983 most kids weren’t born yet.

Dude the roll in was so crazy i don’t think i could do it, that shit looks nuts the speed you get coming down that this is about 45 miles an hour that’s fast.
